The Med-Eng LDE is a modular suit that provides balanced protection against blast type anti-personnel mines. The LDE enables a deminer or UXO technician to work comfortably in all operational climates without need of body cooling equipment. The modular design can be configured quickly and easily by a deminer in the field depending upon protective requirements.
The standard LDE suit comprises an Apron (not to be confused with the Demining Apron) and Trousers. To enhance chest and groin protection there are optional Sleeves, a Back Protector and Ballistic Add-Ons.

- Apron chest plate integrates with the Med-Eng VBS-250 Visor, VBS-450 Visor or LDH Helmet for continuous protection over the upper body, neck and head
- Lightweight design reduces heat stress and fatigue
- Retractable groin plate for easier kneeling
- Trousers include thigh and shin plates for greater protection
Allen Vanguard offers 1st level (field/user repairable) Spare Parts for the LDE so users can replace lost or damaged components in the field.This reduces ‘down time’, keeps a unit operational and reduces administrative costs.
